Am I Really doing this?
Hi! I'm Cindy and I'm taking a step of faith, outside of my comfort zone, and telling my breast cancer story. Sometimes God puts something on our hearts and no matter how much we try to ignore it, it just keeps coming back. So here it goes....
My story begins in January of 2021. Well, the interesting part does at least, but maybe I should back up just a bit. My husband, Phillip, and I were married in 2008 in my parents' backyard. Have an outdoor wedding they said. It'll be great they said. Well, it was great...eventually. But before the ceremony started, it rained. Like, REALLY RAINED.

See the forecast on the TV?
But it's supposed to be good luck for it to rain on your wedding day, right? Who said that? I should look into that and see if that's really true or not. In our case, I guess we've had our fair share of good and bad luck.

We live in Paulding County Georgia. Our daughter was born in December of 2010. Her daddy has been a sucker for her ever since, but isn't that really how it should be? Our son was born in July of 2013, completing our sweet little family.
Once the kids started school, I became extremely involved with the school and the PTA. My time was spent between working from home as a virtual real estate assistant and spending hours at the school organizing events. I loved it and thus began the chaos!
My kids were in 3rd and 1st grades when the dreaded Covid shut down happened. Have you ever tried teaching a 1st grader math on the computer? It was not fun! My girlfriends and I decided we needed a reward at the end of the week, once we survived virtual school so the Driveway Drinkers were formed. We would meet on Friday evenings, bring our lawn chairs, sit 6 feet apart in the driveway and share some drinks and LOTS of laughs, to save our sanity.
I also turned 40 during the covid shutdown, but it was December and most of my friends had given up on the lockdown. They threw me a lowkey surprise party and it was perfect. I got to catch up with friends that had moved away and some I had not seen in a while.
So here we are. Back at January 2021. But since you're probably tired of reading, I'll stop here for now. Take your ibuprofen and get ready for your mammogram. No, really, if you haven't had one, schedule it now!
See you all again soon!
